Take a Fresh Look at the Past With ‘Better History’

Chrome has a great history viewer by default, but if you wanted something flashier with more tools to help you manage history, then you would have to go elsewhere.

This is why I decided to peruse the Chrome Web Store for the perfect tool for the job:

Say hello to ‘Better History’

A better look at your browsing history. The best searching, the sharpest interface, and the most useful filters – for your history. ” – Roy Kolak

Better History aims to give you a decent selection of features whilst still looking sharp. I’m a sucker for minimalism so this is right up my street.

Better History at a glance

Better History places a button on the toolbar for quick access to your history. Clicking on this takes you to an overview of your week so far, giving you useful stats such as how many websites you have visited on a given day in that week. I am a big fan of the ‘bar chart’ style, as it is both useful and aesthetically pleasing.

Searching is quick and accurate. The keywords that you search for are highlighted in the list of results making it easier to sift through to find the page that you are looking for. I’m hoping that the developer will implement a search-as-you-type feature, though it could be deemed unnecessary by some, I would like to see this happen.

Under the tidy list of dates on the left column is a handy settings link which allows you to configure Better History. In the menu you are able to change the default landing page to open at the last visited page, current day or at the default current week. One or two other options are available for tweaking also.

After playing around with Better History for the past few days, I have really enjoyed playing around with the extension and find it incredibly useful. The user interface is experience is spot-on. I really recommend that you install it and give it a try!

I have been using Better History for a while and I love it! I have one question: is there a way to just scroll though ones entire history? the only way I have been able to do this is do a search for something, and sometimes I can’t remember the name and just want to go though everything.
