American computer company CTL has launched an updated version of its top-selling education Chromebook that, on paper, sends it to the top of the class.

The all-new CTL ‘NL6’ Education Chromebook features a fast quad-core Intel Bay Trail processor and, more uniquely, a 180-degree hinge that enables the device to fold out flat (making it harder for kids to snap hinges).

The Intel N2940 processor that is almost 70-percent faster than the dual-core N2830 found in many existing Chromebooks, such as the Acer C200.

Also onboard is 4GB RAM for snappy multi-tasking and a 16GB SSD for storing files and the like.

Along with decent battery life and ruggedised design that withstands spills, slips and drops, the updated model retains the device’s iconic retractable carry handle and useful swivelling web-cam.

CTL’s Chief Operating Officer, Erik Stromquist, says the company’s original Chromebook for Education became “a top seller” with their education customers and has helped them “earn CTL public sector contract awards including NASPO ValuePoint (formerly WSCA/NASPO) and Digital Edge.”

Impressive stuff, and they feel the new model, with its faster processor and new 180-degree hinge, will help them continue to ‘meet the growing needs’ of their education  customers.
