Quick access to Google voice search in Chrome

With voice recognition getting better and better by the day, more and more users want to use Google’s voice search.

Google recently updated Chrome to include Google Now-like voice searching right from Google’s home page, so the feature is definitely being pushed more towards the mainstream.

Even though the feature now looks prettier than before, it’s still quite a pain to access if all you need is a quick search.

This is where this extension comes in useful. NowVoiceSearch by places a button on your extensions toolbar which provides instant access to Google’s voice search functions.

Besides just Googling facts, Google Voice Search also allows access to many things Google Now can do like search dictionary definitions, maps, convert units, tell you the weather or set timers.

You can also use CTRL+SHIFT+. to activate voice search on the new tab page.

    • As in CTRL+SHIFT+ dot/full stop? Doesn’t seem to work for me.

Okay, the options above and below, are both the same stupid method… I don’t understand why you can’t just click on the extension and the mic pops up. Wherever your cursor is pointing is where the words will appear…even if it had to open a new window like with the google music extension. There has to be a better way to do things.

Chromes biggest problem is lack of dev support!

I actually prefer an extension that mimics the icon in the google homepage, i like having the icon inside the search bar and GooNow does that better
