Hot on the heels of WatchABC, WATCH Disney and Twitch, Sling is the latest media streaming service to add Chromecast support to its mobile apps.

The “place shifting” service, popular with travellers, allows users to watch live and recorded TV shows from their cable service at home or on the go by hooking up a dedicated ‘Slingbox’. This box encodes content and makes it available for streaming online and through mobile apps, securely.
Chromecast support for the iOS and Android Slingplayer app will allow users to beam content from a mobile device directly to a Chromecast enabled TV. That means you can watch any channel from your TV package at home on a cast-equipped TV, anywhere.
Crazy stuff.
“We’re ecstatic to announce that Chromecast support has arrived for Slingbox M1, 350 and SlingTV/500 customers using the Slingplayer app… When paired with the Slingplayer app, you’ll be able to watch any of your cable or satellite programming (live or recorded) on any TV that’s been set up with Chromecast.”
As with most Cast-enabled apps the feature currently only works when both Chromecast and app are on the same network.
Slingplayer is available for iOS and Android. Price varies depending on region.
