Hola Unblocker for Chrome Lets You Access Blocked Sites, Watch Blocked Content

Access your favourite streaming sites from anywhere...

Many media streaming website are restricted to licensed countries, such as Netflix and BBC iPlayer. Hola Unblocker is a Chrome extension which bypasses these blocks.

‘Access Netflix outside the USA or BBC iPlayer outside of the UK’

You maybe aware of Hola, it was originally a Windows-only application which improve download speeds and unblocked restricted websites. Recently, the Hola team have released a Chrome extension which allows you to bypass website restrictions. For example, you could access Netflix outside the USA or access BBC iPlayer outside of the UK.

I personally use Hola to maximise my Netflix subscription. Living in the UK, I currently have access to the Netflix UK library, however, I now have the option to watch content on the USA library as well.

The Hola Unblocker extension will install an icon on your Chrome taskbar, click the icon and select ‘Enable’ to enable the unblocker.

What does impress me with this extension is how quick it is. In the past a found proxy software to be slow to access websites with, but it has not been the case. Accessing Netflix USA and streaming content has just been as fast as using the unblocked Netflix UK website.

Hola Unblocker supports a wide variety of websites, and more are added regularly.

    Great one, thanks!

Would be nice to know how does it exactly work, though. Not a lot of info on their website, either.

And.. now my life is gone.

  • Julia Lee

What level of security does this provide? And can I use this freely in countries like China and UAE? I’ve been using ExpressVPN because it can get through tough censorship when I travel.

  • Reika

Yep, it’s totally free. Not even ad-supported.

    • Andrew

      No, Hola is ad-supported, see
      They are from Israel.

      • Reika

When I posted the message 6 months ago, it wasn’t.
Now it’s just a free service, like any other adware free service out there :(

  • Brian Cooper

Gotta say it works very well, great for the frequent out of country traveler. I was pretty psyched to see Hola incorporated into the torch browser as well.

The best way to access blocked websites is to use a vpn service, is the best you can get,
    1Month only $3.3 | 2Months $5 | 3Months $7 | 6Months $10 | 12Months $16 |
It has totally FREE test account.

  • Charlotte

I think this is by far the best invention!

  • Man in a Shed

What’s in it for Hola ?

  • Cal Waldie

Hm. Needs improvement. I’m sitting in Beijing, and the page to set it up won’t even load. #fail #tryagain #Chinaisthestandardforvpns

    • Kenny Strawn

Probably because it takes a lot to bypass the Great Firewall

  • jeff

why is it saying hola unblocker has been disabled in chrome???????

    • Fox Mulder

It’s not. I just used it to watch Netflix

      • Fox Mulder

However, I did read that the free version only unblocks for 4 hours a day?

Free proxies and VPNs are not reliable in my
experience. But there are good ones that are not really expensive. The best
one for me has been PrimoVPN( ) because it also
provides security and guarantees speed and no monitoring. It’s very easy to
    use. Downloading is also awesome.

When I sign in to Netflix through it Netflix advises I can only stream when in the US. They got smart, unfortunately. Workaround?

    • disqus_vU1klyrdjb

You need a DNS proxy for that, with leak protection to be safe. I use to stream/unblock Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime etc. It also has a vpn service, socks 5 proxies etc.
