Chrome fans ‘down under’ will be able to get their mitts on the new ASUS Chromebox from next month, it has been confirmed.

The Celeron-based entry model will hit retailers in early April, with a starting price of $299 (AU).

The faster Intel i3-based version, which sports marginally better graphics performance and doubles the RAM to 4GB, is to follow a month later priced at $499.  ASUS has not yet said which retailers will be carrying the range.

April will be a busy month for Chrome in Australia as the first all-in-one Chrome OS PC, the LG Chromebase, is also scheduled to hit stores in April.

Over in the states the wait is almost over with the entry model Chromebox set to start shipping this week. Neither ASUS nor Google have yet said when the devices are planned to launch in Europe.
