Following on from its arrival in the US, Acer’s new 11.6-inch Intel Bay Trail Chromebook is now available to buy in the UK.
Two of Britain’s major online retailers are offering the Acer CB3-111 Chromebook, both pricing it at £199.99.
Very.co.uk lists the model as “in stock” and available for home delivery “within 4 working days”, while shopping goliath Amazon.co.uk touts a dispatch time of 2-3 weeks.
Design and Specifications
Visually the device look similar to Acer’s larger, fractionally more expensive, 13.3-inch Nvidia Tegra K1-powered Chromebooks. But inside things are very different:
- 11.6-Inch LCD Display (1366 x 768)
- Intel Celeron N2840 @ 2.16GHz
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB eMMC Storage
- Intel HD Graphics
- Approx. 8.5-hour battery life
Alternatives
To put the £200 price tag of this model into some perspective, it’s possible to pick up the 13.3-inch ASUS Chromebook C300, which features nearly identical specifications, for as little as £189.99. The standard HD version of the 13.3-inch Acer CB5-311, which promises a 13-hour battery life thanks to its Nvidia Tegra K1 SoC, is available for around £219.99.
