My memory is rubbish. And I’m easily distracted. Not a great combination when you…
What was I saying? Oh, yes: remembering stuff. In order to make sure things that need to get done, do get done I make lists. Lots of lists. Wherever I am, whatever I’m doing, I’m scribbling away. And so long as I remember to check my list, I keep on top of things.
Moving across multiple operating systems frequently means that a cross-platform — i.e., Chrome App — solution is now an indispensable part of my workflow.
The only problem with most of the (admittedly very awesome) task and time management tools available on Chrome is the complexity. Some, like Evernote, have so many features you almost need to take notes to remember how to use it!
Checking off these issues from my list of wants is Super Simple Tasks by Benjamin Humphrey.
Super Simple Tasks
You don’t need to go over the top to keep on top of your to-do list. Task management apps like Wunderlist and Any.Do have their place, but simplicity is sometimes the best solution to getting things sorted.
Super Simple Tasks for Chrome adheres to this mantra. It isn’t bogged down with list-within-list management features, doesn’t bug me to categorise or schedule.
Instead, the focus is rested squarely on what needs to be done — which is getting things done!
Using Super Simple Tasks
Click the SST icon in the Chrome toolbar to access the tasks list. Add a task, assign a priority and close. The next time you open the app on another Chrome device all of your notes will be there waiting thanks to Google Account syncing.
- Completely free
- Google Account sync
- Works offline
- Easy to use
- Responsive design
- Open source
My only criticism of Super Simple Tasks is that it’s not a Chrome App. It’s a browser extension that sits in the toolbar; you can’t pin it to your task bar or get at it from the App Launcher.
Packaged up in this way would afford it another benefit: being easily ported to Android, something that would add another string to its platform-friendly bow.
Super Simple Tasks is a free download available from the Chrome Web Store.
