Lenovo Unveil ‘Rugged’ Convertible Chromebook for Education

Thinkpad Yoga 11e

The Yoga 11e is available with Windows 8 or Chrome OS

Lenovo has taken the wrapper off of two new Chromebooks, including the first ‘convertible’ running Chrome OS.

The ThinkPad Yoga 11e Chromebook and ThinkPad 11e Chromebook have been ‘designed specifically for education and ruggedised for classroom performance‘, according to the company.

Both devices sport 11.6-inch screens, with the traditional laptop opting for an HD LED, and the Yoga an IPS touchscreen display. Colour options will include silver and graphite.

The ThinkPad 11e line of devices feature rubber bumpers, Intel chips and ‘top cover LEDs’ to relay wireless, power and activity information.

Earlier this year Lenovo’s North American president, Gerry Smith, said the company would release ‘multiple’ Chromebooks during 2014.

Prices will start from $349 for the Chrome versions, and Windows 8.1 versions available from $449.
