The Original Chromecast

Google CEO Sundar Pichai revealed how many Chromecast units the company has sold during an earnings call held earlier this week.

And you no doubt won’t be surprised to hear that it’s a lot.

Revealed during a reply to queries about Google’s overall hardware strategies, Pichai says the company has sold 30 million Chromecast units today.

This figure includes both generations of the streaming stick, the first of which launched in 2013, as well as the newer, sound-only Chromecast Audio.

But it gets even more impressive.

‘Google has sold another 5 million Chromecasts in just under 2 months’

Back in May of this year during I/O, Google said it had shifted 25 million Chromecast units, up from 17 million in May 2015.

This means Google has sold an additional 5 million Chromecasts in the past 2 months alone.

These are crazy impressive figures for a device which has only just celebrated its third birthday.
