Here’s something sure to brighten up the day of those living down under: the colourful ASUS C-series Chromebooks have begun to arrive at a number of Australia’s leading online tech retailers.
While ASUS has yet to formally “launch” the device in the country a number of independent retailers have quietly begun taking orders for both the 11.6-inch C200 Chromebook and its larger 13.3-inch C300 Chromebook sibling.
Naturally prices and availability vary so far, with listing ranging from AU$300 for the 11.6-inch ASUS C200 Chromebook w/2GB RAM through to AU$430 for the 13.6-inch ASUS C300 Chromebook.
This is at odds with the pricing structure ASUS uses in the UK and US, where both 11.6-inch and 13.6-inch models retail for the same price.
Specifications
ASUS is making the C300 available in three color choices: red, yellow and blue, and the 11-inch C200 in black and silver only.
Size and color options aside, all models are available with the same specifications:
- Intel Celeron N2830 (dual-core) processor w/2GB RAM, 16GB eMMC storage
- Intel Celeron N2830 (dual-core) processor w/4GB RAM, 32GB eMMC storage
ASUS’ Australia website also lists an additional C300 model using a quad-core Intel Celeron N2930 and support for mobile SIM. No word on pricing or availability on those options just yet.
Other features included as standard are 2 USB ports, full-sized HDMI out, SD card reader, HD webcam and a trackpad ASUS say is the largest of any Chromebook.
Keep an eye on Kogan, ASUS.com.au/shop and other online retailers over the coming weeks for full purchase options, or check out the current crop of “live” listings at some of the retailers below.
