To get to Sesame Street, hit Cast

Hot on the heels of Showtime and TED Talks, a further seven well known Android apps have announced native support for the Google Chromecast.

Among them US children’s channel Nickelodeon, subscription service Sesame Street Go, ENCORE Play from Starz, and home of ‘The Daily Show’ Comedy Central.

Hybrid on-demand service EPIX, which offers a host of movies, concerts and comedy specials for a fixed monthly fee, also joins the party, as does Indian-language TV offering YuppTV.

But the biggest draw in this wave is undoubtedly that of hugely popular radio streaming service TuneIn Radio. With more than 100,000 stations, 4 million podcasts and an estimated 50 million active listeners a month, the first-class Chromecast support seems a natural fit.

With Black Friday set to offer up even greater deals on the Chromecast this latest bolstering of its (now extensive) app catalog comes at the right time. And with casual social gaming a new focus for the little stick that could, the added value is only set to grow in the months to come.
