aAfter quietly creeping on sale in the US earlier this month, the HP Chromebox  now appears to be readying its arrival in the UK.

Listings for two ‘HP Chrome Desktops’ have recently been added to the company’s UK website, complete with pricing. The only catch is that, for now, they’re said to be ‘not available direct from HP’.

With the US pricing being crazily competitive starting from $179, what sort of price will the HP Chromebox sell for in the UK? It seems it may be at a comparable price point.

HP Chromebox in the UK

HP’s website lists the two entry level Chromeboxes at present, priced at £215 (£179 ex. VAT) and £234 (£195 ex. VAT) respectively.

For that, buyers get a small form factor PC running Chrome OS on an Intel Celeron 2955U at 1.4GHz. This is paired with either 2GB or 4GB RAM, plus integrated Intel HD Graphics, 4x USB 3.0 ports, an SD card reader plus both HDMI and DisplayPort output.

HP ships a wired keyboard and mouse with the devices.

It’s again worth us noting that these particular listings appear under the business section of HP’s UK website. Consumer models could end up retailing at a little less than the figures given above — though, at £215, I imagine few would be disappointed if they didn’t.

We’ll keep our ears to the ground on release dates and report back as soon as we hear.
